New rights for disabled air travellers
We reported in the June magazine that new regulations were being introduced to give disabled passengers improved access rights when they fly. The new European law (EC) 1107/2006 is now in force which gives 15 million disabled people and those with limited mobility new rights when travelling through airports in Europe.

DVLA Registration on Powered Wheelchairs & Scooters
Articles in two recent editions of the Mail on Sunday have sparked fears for thousands of powered wheelchair and mobility scooter users. The items referred to legislation stating that Class 3 vehicles such as these should be registered with the DVLA.

Mobility scooters and SORN
Owners of mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs (Class 3 vehicles) must register them with the DVLA. A Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) is also required if the vehicle is not in use and being kept off the road. |

Scooter Registration
 We continue to receive enquiries about the registration of mobility scooters and have therefore reproduced again the current procedure for registration. Invalid carriages are separated into three categories. Only Class 3 vehicles are required to be registered with the DVLA. |
